Welcome to the home page of the RDI Group of Functionalisation , Recycling and Degradation of Polymer Materials of the Institute of Technology of Materials (ITM) of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain.
The R&D Group for Functionalization, Degradation and Recycling of Materials (DREMAP) is led by Professor Amparo Ribes Greus at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Five permanent researchers, four of them doctors and a predoctoral researcher, are part of the group. In addition, they maintain close collaborations with other researchers from the same university, as well as other universities and national and international organizations.
The DREMAP group has extensive experience and technological capabilities in the areas of science, technology and engineering of polymeric materials of synthetic and natural origin, as well as their mixtures and composites. It is a multidisciplinary group, which has established procedures in the area of polymeric materials to perform its processing on a laboratory scale, promote its functionalization, carry out its physicochemical characterization, study and validate its behaviour under simulated service conditions, as well as evaluate the possibilities of recovering at the end of their service-life. On the other hand, the valorisation of agroindustrial waste is also part of its area of influence. In this field, they deal with the management and valorisation of waste for being converted into raw material for applications with high added value.
The DREMAP group has applied its knowledge to different application sectors such as the energy, automobile, packaging, environment, waste management or biomedicine fields, among others. As a result of this work, they have participated in more than 60 research projects, including national and international calls, as well as collaborations with the business sector.
